The correct repair sequence
The refrigerant should be handled safely, the leak repaired, the system pressure-tested, evacuated and charged according to the equipment requirements. Operation and temperatures should then be verified.
Why gas top-ups repeat
Refrigerant is not normally consumed like fuel. If charge is repeatedly low, there is likely a leak or previous service problem. Adding refrigerant without repair wastes money and can harm performance.

Send the equipment model, refrigerant type where visible, fault history and photographs of oily or iced areas. Do not touch damaged pipework or attempt to release pressure.
